Role: Supports the libraries of the High Plains Library District through HPLD Friends & Foundation Volunteer Program. This position will work on-site with library staff to support library programming and services.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Volunteers will work under the supervision of library staff on the following duties:
- Assist library staff during library programming
- Set-up spaces prior to programs and events by setting up tables and chairs and laying out program materials as directed
- Clean up after programs and events by putting away tables and chairs and organizing program materials as directed
- Support library staff at library programs and events by signing up and checking in patrons, providing directional information, guiding patrons, and providing additional general event support as needed
- Prepare crafts and program materials for staff led programs
- Assemble Take & Make Kits
- Organize and sort library materials for programs and services
- Refill supplies including scrap paper and pencil dispensers throughout the library
- Set-up and take down displays and promotional materials
- Clean bookshelves, books, whiteboards
- Water in-door plants as directed
Qualifications: Volunteers in this position should have the ability to follow verbal and written instructions, work well individually and in a group, enjoy working with and around library patrons of all ages, attention to detail, and flexibility. Reasonable accommodations available upon request.
Shift Schedule: This is a weekly, recurring, shift scheduled for Thursdays from 3:30pm-5:00pm.
